Four Friendly Winter Tips From New England Propane
Winter brings snow, hot chocolate and quality time with the people you love the most. It could also bring savings on your energy bills!
Find out how you can reduce energy waste in your home and save money this year with these four tips from New England Propane.
Tip #1: Upgrade your heating equipment – By upgrading from an older gas or oil boiler with an efficiency rating of 55 to 65 percent to a modern propane boiler with an efficiency rating of 90 percent or more, you could cut energy use by one-third, assuming the same heat output.
Tip #2: Get a tune-up – A tune-up ensures that your system is working at maximum efficiency and can reduce fuel usage up to 10 percent.
Tip #3: Get a programmable thermostat – A programmable thermostat allows you to create a set schedule that automatically increases or decreases your temperature as you need. Reducing your thermostat 7 to 10 degrees or to a temperature that is comfortable can help you reach annual savings of up to 10 percent.
Tip #4: Caulk your windows – This is an inexpensive way to reduce cold spots and keep the warm air from your heating system inside of your home.
